Default Bass without losing space

I wanted to keep the bass but still be able to throw stuff in my trunk. This is what I came up with. Anybody got an idea for a grill? I want to be able to throw a bowling ball in the trunk and go wheelin' without worrying about the sub.

It's made of plastic so a bowling ball may break it, but should do ok.

Take measurements and make some sort of removable carpeted panel to put over it (with color-matched carpeting)?
