Audio System Upgrade
Hi,
I am looking at changing all speakers and adding a and an. I have been told this is not possible without changing the head unit. Is this true? I would like to keep the factory one.
Also has anyone experienced any electrical problems at all after doing so? I have been warned that the com bus system can be a pain, and I in no way want to compromise the reliability of the electrics!
Any help/advice would be appreciated!
Please help.
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.

Please elaborate.
The first step in an audio upgrade will be a new headunit. The aftermarket ones put more power. Simple as that.
If you really wanted to keep it but still get better sound I believe you can run speaker wires from the factory head unit to an aftermarket amplifier and then from the amp to the speakers. This may require some thunking because the factory headunit does not have pre-amp outputs (RCA cable hookups) but I know it is possible with some amplifiers.

You may be able to keep the same head unit, if it is compatible with an aftermarket amplifier. What year is your vehicle, and what kind of radio does it have now?
