Air Horns
When I bought my ZJ a few months ago the horn never worked. No big deal. I have searched a bit but am not really interested in fixing the factory horn. Today I bought a cheap set of air horns. If I like them I may buy a good set later on. But my current question is where to mount them? Doesn't look like there is much room behind the grill. Maybe in the engine compartment? Any of you already have air horns and care to share where you put them? Thanks.

How long and wide are they? have a picture with a tape for reference? I think I have a set of those air horns around here and can figure out a place for you. I also have an old horn set here that are not air but look like air horns. They are electric and came off an old school bus with a 6 volt system. These things are ear splitting when you put 12 volts to them. These are going on mine at some point. lol

There are three air horns in this kit. The longest one is 9" long and has a 3" mouth. The shortest one is 6".

There are no brackets for the horns, just a plastic cup to hold a bolt. Here is the kit.

This is what it looks like... Looks like these are designed to mount by drilling holes though the roof or hood or light bar. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to do that myself. I think if you want to mount these under the hood like I would you might have to fab a mounting bracket. In one of the reviews a guy shares some of the issues he had with the relay, fuses and power sources. They are compared to another popular set but that set only has two horns rather than three. But I think it would be pretty simple to make a three way bracket for these that uses two bolts to mount somewhere under the hood. What do you think?

I plan to fab up a bracket, just unsure where they will fit best without being in the way of working on things. I will figure it out AFTER The Daytona 500 tomorrow!

Still haven't gotten around to fabing up a bracket for the horns but I did hook them up today to see how they sound. Holy cow... LMAO. NOT what I expected. Sounds like a suspenseful moment in a really bad movie. LOL. Listen for yourself...

The first time I need to honk at someone they are seriously going to be like WTF IS THAT??? Literally crying laughing right now. OMG.

That is hilarious. You're dead on with that description.
Great name by the way. Stealthymcstealth fits that horn beautifully. |
After thinking about it I can fix it so it sounds like a normal air horn. But I may leave it this way for a week just for fun. LOL.

I'm glad this got bumped. I somehow missed that you hooked them up! lol Now I will have to share the old 6v bus horns... lol
