Don't do this!!!! This will kill your battery. How do I know? I owned a stereo shop for 7 years. He is right in the fact that if it works with the radio and not the cd then the factory amp wire is hooked up to the antenna wire and not the "remote" wire. Switch to the other blue wire from the new unit.
Ignore this whole option for now. Just hook up the Blue/white wire. Its the proper wire from the headunit. bypassing the Headunit amp control wire is a last ditch thing.

So, if I may clarify:
Are you saying; I should connect the blue with white stripe from my deck, to the floating black wire that I have coming up from the rear of my dash?
And what about the black wire coming out of my unit? Connect it to the Blue wire coming from the dash? (because those two wires are coming from the dash, behind the wire harness, but aren't connected to the harness for some reason.

No, connect the blue wire comming from the car to the "remote" wire on the new stereo unit. It might have a tag on it saying 'REM" not "ANT"
