Default 6x9's in a 96 laredo

So someone i know bought a pioneer setup (deck, 6.5's and 6x9's) and decided not to use their 6x9's, so now they are in my possession. I've been looking around for the best way to put them into the rear doors of my 96 laredo. I'd rather not hack on metal but if need be i will. Just curious if anyone had any input or experience. Thanks.

Rear "doors" sounds like they are discussing this:

Not gonna fit a 6x9 in there no how.
Maybe

Ha, ha.

^ Rear door installation is in the link I provided. The hatch picture is just there as another example.

You can surface mount 6x9s on lots of stuff, if you are willing and able to cut.

I like the rear hatch, its the easiest to get to and install.

I'd never hack anything up for 6x9's. Oval speakers just don't perform like round speakers do. It's not like 6x9's give you anything that 6.5's wouldn't anyway.

Sell the 6x9's, don't cut your vehicle for their sake.

while that is not correct, I do agree, if you are going to cut something, spend more money than that.

I believe you're talking about a Grand Cherokee (there was no regular Cherokee Laredo in '96). It can probably be done, but you're going to have to cut off the factory speaker connectors and splice the speaker wiring into your new speakers (you can use Posi-Products connectors to get a secure wiring connection that won't come undone). You will probably have to remove the factory speaker grilles from the rear doors and drill new grille mounting holes to mount the grilles that came with the aftermarket 6x9"'s onto the rear door panels, plus drill new screw holes in the door metal to mount the speakers to. It won't look pretty, but it can probably be done.
