Good job on that cluster****, man (pun most definitely intended). I probably wouldn't have even bothered... I'm still dreading the rewiring of my late model XJ doors to the ZJ door plugs that I got for my early model XJ... that's like a double conversion. Yay

I also spliced in a XJ courtesy light socket & bracket under the dash on the drivers side. Put a LED in that also.

I probably will get around to doing the passenger side next year.

Also vacuumed the back of the MJ cab, behind the seat.

I was thinking about the air compressor... need ur opinion

One is to lay the compressor flat on the side and plumb the manifold like so. My concern is that it could potentially look sloppy and amateurish, AND I'm not even sure about it being able to run on the side.

But it doesn't take up space.

Attachment 400832

And there's this option. Personally I like it.
The compressor would be sitting upright like intended. The manifold will still be mounted above it in both scenarios though.

Attachment 400831

But for now I put in my jack in the spot. After the compressor is installed I ll probably move it to the passenger side later.

Attachment 400833

Hopefully I ll have time tonight to do a write up for the thingy.
I don't think lubrication of the motor or compressor cylinder would be as much of an issue as air intake would be. I appears that the air intake is on the black manifold on top of the compressor and there are air inlets on both sides of the box. So potentially, you may be blocking off a little bit of the pathway for air to get in. If it were me, I'd mount it standing up like in the second picture.. for assurance of air intake as well as aesthetics.... but I get the feeling you were leaning in that direction anyway.

I tossed it.

It used to be on the 3/4 cluster.

The output seal is leaking and I've had it pop out of reverse twice when cold, but hopefully it'll last long enough to afford an ax-15 swap.

Seriously. Nice work. I'd like to do this kind of swap on my 99. Only thing is that I can't reset the OD due to it being digital.
