Is that pressure treated lumber on the bed? The chemicals in pressure treated eat steel. I would recommend some thick rubberized tape between wood and steel, and stainless fasteners. Or change the PT out for oak.
Decent article about PT lumber and steel corrosion: http://www.ggashi.com/wordpress/wp-c...-Corrosion.pdf

It is PT lumber. The bed is sprayed with TSC house brand tractor paint. So far it’s holding up great with no corrosion. You are right though, I had set the boards on the bed before paint it rusted in a matter of days.
And fasteners are SS carriage bolts.

I wasn't paying attention to the dates on these posts and I just assumed this project was finished long ago and I'd eventually get to the end and see your finished product. Part of me is excited I get to actually follow along now instead. Nice work so far!
