Oops, didn't know what year they swapped to external, but basically 5 speed with a 4.0 that's external slave works for bell housing and then you just need the front bearing retainer.

Correct. All 94+ ax15's were external slave regardless of vehicle.

Got the engine cleaned up and ready to go for the ax15, just need the bellhousing and clutch parts to show up.

Also got the pedals, new brake master and drilled the firewall for the clutch master.

Tore down the axle shafts. Wire wheeled them and put a coat of tractor paint on them. Also pressed in the seal and installed the new bearing retainer.

Rebuilt the shifter.

Finshed the axle shafts added extended studs for the disk brakes used dorman 610-449

Installed the bellhousing and drilled the trans to clock the t-case up. I found out that the input shaft on the older ax15s is smaller so I had to order the correct pilot bearing.

Got the pilot bearing and installed the clutch. If you’re doing an external slave conversion to an internal slave ax15 the pilot bearing that comes with the clutch kit will not work. I used national P/N: FC-66426

I overlooked the clutch pivot fork spring so I ordered one and will get the trans installed once that comes in.

Got the ax15 swap done. She drives just doesn’t have any brakes right now, lol. I bought a 231 from a 96’ xj with 100k miles from the junkyard as mine was a 21 spline input. I had to swap the output shafts and now I have a nice t case. I did the valve cover gasket and the cruiser54 mod also.

Took the Dana 35 out and gave it away on Facebook within 15 minutes it was gone, lol.

Took the leaf springs apart, wire wheeled them, scotchbrite with acetone and a coat of tractor paint.

Installed the axle shafts and brakes on the Dana 44. Hope to get the leafs back together and set the pinion angle tonight.
