Possible dumb question
 

I Have a low pinion 8.25 out of a 99 Cherokee that I would like to use to replace my Dana 35 in my Comanche. Would there be any issue with me flipping the axle over and weld on new brackets to make it a high pinion?

Low pinion is stronger in the rear. You can't flip the axle yo u would go backwards. If you can weld just relocate the brackets for the mj.

The ways the gears are turning as you apply power the gears are pulled together while going forward and apart in reverse. With a high pinion rear it is the opposite. The front axle is the polar opposite which is why we all want high pinion.

Glad it wasn't me.I love those old Chevy technical videos. Between those and the old army ones you can figure out how almost anything works at the most basic level.

All rear axles but for a very small few are low pinion,On the rear unless you want a pro rock crawler or a monster lift 12 inches plus low pinion is fine.On a 4x4 the front axle a high pinion is a little stronger then a low pinion thats where it really matters.And on most 4x4s the rear axle is stronger then the front because the rear does more work most of the time.And your more likely to break something in the front axle then the rear because the front has more parts and more things to break.
