New floor pans mounting bench seat
 

I am replacing full pans in my MJ and the over brace that two of the seat mount are on are gone and need to be replaced with something else

I bought sherman pans

Most take a piece of flat stock steel and weld in place where the old brace/cap was.

I think i am gonna be able to save the two studs torward the trans tunnel and weld flat stock to level the door side two probably just weld the seat back on

sorry to hijack, but any chance you have a pic of this? what size flat stock? im dealing with a very similar situation and am having trouble picturing it..

I do not know off hand but I would use the sturdiest piece I could find or afford. It's only as thick as the existing uniframe material.

I was able to save two inner studs on both sides closest to the trans tunnel so i welded the pan in bolted the seat down made marks where the other mounts go then used a spacer for the front one needed 1.25" and rear .5". So the rear was just a welded bolt then washers to get the .5". Front a piece of 1" square stock with a bolt welded to the top to get the 1.25" needed worked great

gotcha. so did you just weld the pan over the channel? or did you box it in first?

i just this minute took a break from cutting to fit and drilling a "z"shaped piece of 16 guage i had made/bent at a metal shop! it will bolt to the frame on bottom,on top of whats left of old support,and to the rocker and the tranny hump. my 2 back bolts are ok so ill use them to position the seat and drill holes for the front bolts.
im waiting for floor pan,fri? dont know how they fit. its new to me. this is my 2000 cher sport.
driver side is not so bad, all 4 bolts are ok, just 3 holes to cover.
got 2 tubes of seam sealer from body shop supply,supposed to be very sticky, good stuff.
i made a bent pattern from a small piece of alum and had them make it oversize so i could cut it to final size, looks good!

oh b4 assm im "painting" it all with rust seal or rust bullet especially inside any frame sections i can reach to prevent future stuff like this. oh!, no welding, i want to , if necessary in future be able to unassemble!

My channel was so rotted i removed it and had the pan flush with the unibody i drilled holes in the pan to weld the pan to the unibody then spot welded all the way around need 4 patches past the pan i bought then seam sealed

What are your plans for the crossmember where the front seat bolts on?
