Fuel tank R&R (MJ)?

Anyone out there R&R an MJ fuel tank? ('89, short wheel base, 2.5L renix 4Cyl, MT, 2WD)

I'm guessing I have the choice of removing the bed or dropping the tank from underneath. Just looking to avoid any 'Oh $h!t' events.

The bad: just filled the tank (ain't that always the case), lots of rust underneath (ditto), shop bays full w/disassembled tractor (ditto again)

The good: nuthin' in the bed, loader/tractor available, good weather

Thanks!

way easier to pull the straps and drop the tank. soak the strap nuts for a while though to have the best chance of not snapping them.

And mark the straps. They are different lengths.

Absolutely . I just swapped my 88 MJ 72" bed size. Even w larger tires, I still had to jack the frame just in front of rear wheel well to help the tank squeeze out. Wersh the fill tubes with dish soap while they're out.
