Default Doorless issues

So I figured since the Comanche has the old style hinges and not a single wire going to the doors I would make the doors removeable and have some fun with it, well I cut the bottom ears on the driver's door and went to knock them off the pins and this thing has roll pins instead of the press in pins I'm used to seeing on these. I put the door back on, which took a lot of wiggling and now I can't even get it back off. Anywho, anyone ever run into this roll pin thing? Should I just go to the junkyard and knock some door pins out and knock them into my hinges? Any tips or suggestions? Well other than don't take the doors off since it's a little late for that one...

Pabst Boys took some rod steel and replaced their pins with that. What is the issue with cutting and using the roll pins like of the pressed pins? Curious since I'm looking to go doorless on my '88 soon.

Not sure if it's just me, just the way I cut or what, but I can't get the door back out and when I got the hinges out the first time after cutting it was a pain. The roll pins just don't seem to slide at all, and when I knocked the bottom ears off the hinge it broke the roll pin off instead of sliding out.

i had similar troubles. i ended up knocking out the roll pin, opening up the holes to whatever the next size bolt would be (dont remember off hand) and just welded that in its place.

What if you just used a file and just filed off the rust layer and greased the hinges?

I'm picking up a set of doors this weekend, they have no hinges but plan on using the hinges off a parts Jeep my buddy has. I believe the Parts jeep is a '95 as are the doors. Should be interesting to see what needs to be done to make them work. Going to use the parts to swap and make my power doors manual, save the rest of the 2 door parts, and turn the shell of the doors into half doors.

I'm just commenting since I have an '88 so same style hinges. 2 door jeep, 2 door doors, 4 door parts jeep hinges. Not MJ model related, but same hinge style

the the mention and confusion between a "2-door jeep" being an MJ or an XJ is real...

Well currently I'm still running the roll pins, not sure how long I will, but I do plan to get some real pins when I have time. They just seem to get hung up and I feel they're weaker than a solid pin. It will be a huge pain trying to get them out too.
