I haven't ridden on them yet, but just bouncing up and down on the rear compared to the old ones and they seem a bit soft

Im debating Fox shocks. I ran bilsteins on my XJ, and they were a bit soft

I finally got to get a good feel for them and they are soft!
Maybe because I'm used to cheapo white body shocks that were stiff which is a type of ride I like...

As far as updates go, got the cavfab 3-link installed with bilsteins all around and 5.5" coils up front and re2705 shackles in the rear. I do have a squat but not nothing that a winch and winch bumper can fix...
Which I ordered softcore industries stubby recessed hidden winch bumper
Can't wait until it comes in...

Always wanted a hidden winch bumper but time/fab skills puts me away from trying to build one, I didn't like the look of rustys off-road bumper and lucky I came across this guys set-up and at a fair price

The headliner from steve(a1500ram) awesome quality work and fits like a glove...did have some regarding the fact I didn't have the Velcro needed for the headliner. So I ended going to Home Depot and getting a set to let the headliner sit right up there. Since I have a rear sliding glass the wind doesn't push it down to collapse the headliner which is a plus....

That's my pops in the pic below

Also today I finally got to install my bucket seats that picked up on Craigslist for $40....and also my bucket seat brackets I bought from keyav8er
Not many pics of the seats but one will have more later.

While in the mix of the updates me and a buddy of mine. Have been on the look out for his first jeep! Been massaging the jeep name into his soul and finally got him to bite....we drive from miami to Tampa took about 5 1/2 hours because of being pulled over for dark tints and massive thunder storms....funny thing is on the way back with a tag last registered in 2009 on the cherokee the ride down went smooth but horrible! Imagine we went to work at 630 am got out of work at 3. Headed to Tampa at 4pm we didn't get home till 520am the next day and went to work! Crazy? For a jeep? He'll yeah!!!! Plus he got a smoking deal....88 cherokee 4.0 4x4 and the pukegoat 5speed! Had a 6inch lift adjustable control arms, sway bar discos, one ton steering, sye, custom drive shafts, front winch bumper, rear tire carrier, roof rack, 5- 33in mickey Thompson all terrains and d-windows and bushwacker fender flares all for $1900 now that's a steal enjoy the update and mini story. Sorry for the grammar wasn't great in school.

Lol
The paint job was a professional job well sort of...
It’s considered their 2nd stage paint job and the white is a Chevy white when I asked about having it a Jeep white they said it wouldn’t make a difference in color and that I’ll like the Chevy white on the truck...
The location is called USA painting

Dude, the rig is looking killer! I always had weird driving habits with both my Aussie and Spartan lunchboxes in the rear with a stick. I think it's just the ill effects of a cheap but effective locker.

Have you thought about a longer shackle for the rear?

I currently have the Rubicon express 2705 boomerang shackles in the rear...they lifted the truck about an inch or so but since the 4cyl barely has weight compared to the 4.0
The springs haven’t even been compressed enough to lower the front...

I was actually thinking about you the other day while looking at pics you took of us mudding....
How knowledgeable are you with Subaru’s?

I was thinking about picking one up but more for simple overlanding. id take my comanche but it’ll be a while before it’s ready for that...

Which one you recommend ?

I read through the majority of your build with the MJ nice work. Is the MJ known to sit lower than the XJ? Only reason I ask is the photo with your lift at the end which is supposed to be 5.5" coils in front right? Just looks smaller than what a XJ would look. Could just be the photo but nice work all around.

Yeah they're pretty much the same... depending on which "Jeep white" you're referring to lol.

Jeep had 2 white colors. One was Bright White, which is pretty self-explanatory and then "Stone White" which is kind of an off-white color.

Stone White front clip with Bright White body - sorry about the crappy lighting making everything look bluish.

Chevy "Blue White" or "Olympic White"

Anyway yeah the chevy white is pretty much the same as Jeep's "Bright white" which, incidentally, color matches perfectly to Rustoleum's Gloss White haha.

Fairly. I've owned five (lolz) and have one currently: a 2005 Outback 3.0 H6. It was my daily until I got the current XJ in Oct. Now my girlfriend drives it during the winter - she also likes to drive it period which is a big plus.

I would look for an 05-09 Outback with a 3.0 flat six. They're big, comfortable, do anything cars. Good amount of power and the engine is much more reliable than the four cylinders. Timing chain instead of belt and not as likely to have headgasket failure. Where you're located, that car might be hard to find but at least it wouldn't have any rust. Probably look to pay between $4500-$7000 for one pending the mileage. There's an aftermarket for these cars too that caters to overlanding/rallying. Only downside is they were only offered with an automatic, but it's a really good one.

Other choices would be a second generation (02-08) Forester with a five speed (single cam four cylinder is pretty decent) or a 2000-2004 Outback with the 2.5 liter flat four (same single cam as the Forester) and a five speed. These cars are plenty fun and pretty rugged. They rust really easily up here in NY though.
