2x6 rockers on a MJ
Did most of this yesterday... still need to cap off the ends but it took frickin forever trying to weld sheetmetal with a hobart 140 on flux wire... really need a shop so i can get tanks and all...
Its a bit different then doing a XJ... since the cab drops down just behind the rocker... it also goes inboard more so it looks like its sitting with the front more sticking out then the back... just a little... the MJ has two braces to the frame from the rocket... one mid way down and the other at the very back... my frame tie ins i plan to use these for the same but plate them with 3/16... that way i dont have extra places to grab rocks... ill just make what is there stronger...

the back i have hanging off just enough to mount 1.75 tube when i start on the cage... the front is tucked a bit to make sure for tire clearance... i still need to cap them off but im thinking of rounding the back side off and to the frame... the front ill trim some steel to fit on the inside of the tube and cap off... my front fenders tube work will be different then most... i plan to have some 1.75 tube sit about 2in off this box for a step and to make sure i can get around trees... that will continue up and trace my fiberglass wheel well to the bumper...

Nah not really... I got enough off the back but not the front to make things easy... but I think in the end it'll work and I'll probly save tire space in the front... I left mine open for now in case I want to do something more... found found a place down the rd with with a ton of 2x6 and I may bend it around to the frame... if that makes sence... 22.5 degree cuts... The front I'm sure I'll cap off but I wanted to make sure nothing else comes to mind...

I wouldnt... I've seen the beds cut forward of the wheel and folded and don't like it... The rear I do like cut and folded up plus u can bang it on dang near everything... I would only cut enough in front of the rear tire to add tube and give it it's stock length back if that makes sense...
