1988 Comanche with an interesting Power Steering issue
Hello!
I inherited an old Comanche I'm trying to rebuild but I ran into a problem and was directed here to these forums. I have a feeling I'll begin to be a regular here....
Anyway, I lose Power Steering whenever I brake or decelerate. Whenever I touch the gas pedal I regain a little PS and when I accelerate I fully restore power to the steering. I checked the PS fluid levels and I'm not sure I have a bad pump because it works. It seems like a very specific power issue. Any clues on what to do here? Thank you and I appreciate any help

The fluid and condition is good. It was recently flushed due to this problem. It's directly linked to the throttle in some way, in addition to having control at speed. If I slow down to a near stop, such as a red light, I lose the steering, but if I hit the gas it comes back. I don't think that is a pump issue. I'm confused.

The pump creates more pressure at speed. Less at low speed......
