The $150 Comanche

i just wanted to share some of my findings after I got my Comanche home and first starthttps://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...d729be02cd.jpgLoaded on the car dolly
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...8108c0fd99.jpgPulled nicely behind my 98 xj
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...f07aaf9cec.jpgAs soo as I got it started I noticed right away something was wrong (not surprised at all) after letting it idle for a while and the sound still persisting I decided to take the valve cover and see what was going on.... well.... it didn't take long to figure out why it was making so much noise lol

Now I'm waiting on some new push rods lol they are supposed to come in tonight though!!!

lil01cherokee 02-13-2017 08:31 PM

Dang that's crazy! You might want to heck the lifters though too could have been a failed lifter that cause that rod to jar around and bend

Archer M 02-13-2017 08:54 PM

You are correct!!! turns out the lifter and the cam wiped, the lifter wore all the way through the bottom and had a little hole in it causing the lifter to loose pressure. PLANNING ON BUYING A COMP CAM THIS WEEK!!

Pulled the head to change the lifter found out the cam and lifter wiped

Give us some details on this, backstory and such. Was it a state vehicle? How did you come by a $150 MJ man!?

It was a city owned vehicle about 2 hours north of me (wapakoneta Ohio) it has about 146 thousand miles its two wheel drive (unfortunately) it has the Dana 35 rear axle. A friend of a friend works for the city of wapakoneta and sold it to my friend for $150 because it had supposedly jumped time (it did not jump time). Long story short my buddy decided he didn't want to take on the project so he passed it on to me for the same price he paid for it. It now has a comp extreme 4x4 cam lifter and double timing chain in it and seems to run really well now !!!!
