Windshield washer fluid reservoir

2016 Cherokee.

Took for oil change. Brought it home. Next morning all the washer fluid was on the garage floor.

The garage that did the oil change said there is a hole in the reservoir but that the hole was high enough to hold 3/4 of the fluid. They said the fluid stopped leaking while they had it, washed my car, did not charge me and kept calling me buddy. Took it home. 2 hours later there was a big puddle.

I asked how a hole could happen as I've never had that happen before. My Wrangler is a 2001.

Service manager said it was probably a stone from the highway.

I'm trying hard to see how it is possible for a stone chip to jump up and around all the stuff it would have to do, to get to the reservoir at all, let alone 3/4 of the way up.

What is a more likely cause of my new leak, a stone chip got through spaces where I can't see daylight or something from the oil change?

What do you recommend?

The Jeep dealer said they will look into whether this is covered in the 36/36 Bumper to Bumper thing?

Amazes me a $35 part takes 2 hours of labor.

Seems more likely that dealer who sold me the car and did Certified inspection missed this. I can't imagine the design or material are that bad.

I guess I’m confused here. Is your Jeep a 2001 Wrangler or a 2016 Cherokee? You mention both in reference to the holed reservoir.

Might be some labor.
Even getting to the washer pumps means removing the fender liner, etc.

2016 Cherokee.

I guess this will be a test for what Bumper to Bumper really means.

(I also have a Wrangler which seems bullet proof)

Left a message with the service desk twice to see if it is covered as I still have a couple months on the warranty. Have not received an answer yet.

I'm trying hard to see how a stone chip could get up there as the service guy said could have been the cause. Can't see daylight through shielding underneath it all.

Looks like all the fluid is gone.

Is there a hose that could be disconnected by an oil change?

Make sure they either give you the old tank so you can inspect it, or at least let you see it before they process it for warranty.

Left a couple more messages. Still no reply.

I'd think they could just punch a hole in it if they were not honest.

I want to believe them.
