With the problems I've experienced with the previous update, I'm a bit gun shy about installing it. If anyone has any information on what this update does, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, in advance.

Hi - Where did you find this update? I just tried inputting my VIN on the uconnect site - won't even take my VIN anymore...something must be going on.

I got my update from the UConnect website. Don't know where else you might be able to get it.

Hello jpregione,

Have you connected with our Uconnect team for additional troubleshooting? Send us a direct message with your VIN as we'd be glad to get this escalated to them.

It reattempted to perform the update several times and I spent an hour and a half burning gas for nothing. Now all of the UConnect controlled functions no longer work. I called UConnect and was told that now I have to take my Jeep to the dealership to get a diagnostic to determine the problem. No doubt it's going to cost a small fortune to get it diagnosed and repaired. If l can get this fixed, l'm never going update this thing again. If l need NAV, I'll break out my Garmin...it always works.
Hi jpcherok2014,
We regret to hear of this and would like to offer our assistance while you are working with your dealer on this. Please feel free to send us a private message with additional details.

jpregione, I'm trying additional update attempts like you suggested. So far it's no go. It's still failing at 1% of Unit 11, the Embedded Air Card.. It says it can't install the file: BOLO, then my only option is to reset and try again. Going to the dealership on Wednesday, so we'll see what happens.

Finally got my UConnect problems resolved. After visiting the dealership and letting them do their thing, l was told that the unit was toast and would have to be replaced. The cost of the unit was over $1100 plus installation costs. Figuring l was going to be on the hook for the cost, l went ahead and told the dealership to go ahead and order the new unit. Later that day, l was thinking about it and really, l hadn't done anything except follow UConnect's instructions to the letter. I called the UConnect Customer Service number and spoke to one of their reps and related the whole story of my misadventures with the unit. He told me that they had had several problems with the update and he was going to escalate my case to Case Management. A few days later, I got a call from the case manager assigned to my case and she told me that after review Chrysler/UConnect would pay for the unit and its installation. Woo Hoo!!! Christmas in June!! Had the unit installed and everything works perfectly. I owe a lot of thanks to the folks at Jeep Customer Care and Uconnect Customer Care especially my Case Manager who did a lot to get this done.

Congrats... I'm still having intermittent issues with my navigation losing direction and location, in the morning all is well but in the afternoon after work it seems to act up. I did notice when you go to navigation information page and select GPS that the radio shows no gps antennas... but today on the way home while it showed no gps signal (altitude and accuracy also read 0) my navigation worked flawlessly! WTH? Anyways, have an appointment next week to drop the car off, hopefully they can correct it.

Thanks for the follow up, I did have a Jeep cares representative assigned to my "case" and has been in contact with the dealership when the car was in for troubleshooting, turns out they are going to replace the radio. Also, it was the Jeep Cares rep that made my follow up appointment with the dealership once the radio came in, getting it replaced on Monday. As frustrating as this experience has been it's nice that Jeep assigned someone to assist me in getting this addressed.

Hopefully the radio replacement will fix your issue, but if it does not......
You mentioned this being a problem in the afternoon. That MAY indicate an antenna/signal strength problem vs. a problem with the radio itself.
GPS and Sirius signal strength may vary due to time of day, sun position, etc... if the problem does persist, have the dealer double check your antenna.

Replacing the UConnect unit fixed every problem l was experiencing. The new unit works perfectly. Again my thanks to all at Jeep Customer Care and UConnect Customer Care who helped with my case.

I also thought it might be an antenna issue however one day i noticed the gps signal showed zero satellite signals received, altitude read 0 and accuracy read 0.... and I successfully navigated from point A to point B without missing a turn... oh, and the time is set to gps sync and that was correct. This led me to believe i was in fact receiving a gps signal and for some reason the radio (or separate processor if there is one) was in fact receiving a gps signal which would indicate the antenna is good. But hey, you never know .... to be continued.

Default UConnect update caused System to Freeze

The GPS on my 2014 Jeep Cherokee had been acting up for awhile so we tried updating it through UConnect. After several hours of it stalling at 11/15 we called customer support and they told us to try buying a new USB with bigger storage. So, we turned off the car and the next day bought a 32 GB USB and tried again. No luck. We noticed from the posts here that others have had the same problem. Yesterday we took the car to our dealer service (Tuttle Click in Irvine), and we were told by Izzy Otero that it was our fault for turning off the car. By doing so, we froze the system and now we need a new radio/GPS for a total cost of approximately $1300. ???? We explained that there must be some kind of problem with the software update - there was no way we were going to run the car all day and night (for how many days?) to try and get the software to load. We have called Chrysler customer care to try and get a resolution and are currently waiting for a call back. Heartened by someone's post here that Jeep replaced the radio/GPS for them. If anyone has any advice, we would be grateful.

If you turn off the car or do anything whilst updating, you could trash the unit. I worked for Motorola Cellular for many years....updating any firmware is tricky. Lots of patience and never ever stop the update. Else the unit can and most likely will be permanently bricked as we had issues with this in the mobile phone world. Not saying this is what happened to you, but I did the update yesterday and it took about 15-20 minutes - there are times where it looks like it's stuck, but patience is key to this. Even when one puts the thumb drive into the USB - it seems like nothing is happening but it is. Jeep should have a better feedback mechanism for consumers - I too thought nothing was happening, but knowing this stuff, I looked at the thumb drive LED - which was blinking thereby showing that it was being read by the system hence leave it alone! Hope you get this resolved....
