Driving on the freeway at 70 the parking brake engaged and caused my vehicle to skid to a stop, after a spin around i landed in the grass on a prayer!! . I am afraid to drive the jeep but it is operating normally today.

Never heard of this with any e-brake KL. However, until July 2015 it was possible for hackers to control a Cherokee over the internet, including the radio, steering, brakes, shifting, etc. I’m not saying this is what happened to you, but make sure your KL has the software patch to prevent hacking.

I don't like the electric parking brake at all.
Anything can go wrong with electrically controlled stuff!!
Or, computer controlled stuff too....................or human error?

When something mechanical stops working properly, something needs cleaned or rebuilt.
When something electrical stops working properly it could a broken switch, broken wiring, corrosion, a loose connector, a bad sensor, a faulty ground, faulty fuse or relay, or the computer that runs it all.

Unintended activation of the e-brake is virtually unheard of, we dont know th OP’s full story. More and more makers are adding electric parking brakes for safety reasons. The brake can come on whenever the vehicle is in park, adding an additional layer of safety. Many safety sites recommend using the parking brake whenever parked due to accidents caused by faulty transmissions. With the e-brake it can be automatic.
