Noise at 16MPH to 0 MPH

Purchased a used 2017 Cherokee Trailhawk L last week. Everything works well. Have a noise that starts when decelerating. Noise starts at about 16 MPH and continues until vehicle stops. Sounds is similar to scored rotors or an Air conditioner clutch kicking on. Brake actuation has no effect on noise, shifting to different gear has no effect, engine RPM has no effect.

Could this be some feature kicking something on or in that causes the noise? Vehicle operates flawlessly in every way.

Alternator, possibly?

drive shaft failure?

Dealer believes the problem to be the drive shaft, replacing this week. Excellent dealer/warranty response and support.
