Motorhome TOAD Cherokee?
My wife and I are considering buying a late model 2015+ Cherokee to flat tow behind our Motorhome. From what I have read this means it must be a 4 wheel drive model with the transfer case that can be placed in neutral using the recessed button.
I know some 4x4 models have this feature and others do not.
Can anyone tell me if any version of the Cherokee other than the Trailhawk and Trailhawk L have this neutral enabled transfer case feature? All the references I find online simply say "only models with the 2 speed power transfer unit may be flat towed" and never list trim levels that have this.
thanks

Yes, the Limited and Latitude models were available with Active Drive II, but it was only optional so not many of those trims have it. Look for the Active Drive II emblem on the rear liftgate or the Neutral light next to the 4WD **** on the console. Also, you may need the wiring kit needed to prevent the dreaded "death wobble" while towing. I don't know specifics on that so I'll let you Google more. One of the RV forums may also provide folks with more personal experience.

The Cherokee flat tow wiring is MOPAR part 68321424AP. It keeps the electronic power steering alive to stabilize the front wheels and prevent the wobble while towing. Cost is $132 and they are on back order. But at least you can order them again. They'd been unavailable for quite some time. Service bulletin 08-010-17 applies to this issue.
I don't believe there is a similar wiring part for the Grand Cherokee, but rumor has it that later model (2018-2019) Grand Cherokees now have the electronic power steering and there have been some issues, but only at low speed. I only know this from the forums; not from any first-hand information.
