Refinishing Tow Hooks
I had to pull the front tow hooks off when I installed the brackets for four down towing, but I'm trying to retain the look at least. So I had a friend of mine cut the hooks and weld them onto an extra set of bracket ends, making them removable whenever it's being towed. My problem now is what to use to refinish them as the heat from welding cooked the coating off. I looked at Rust-oleum's Flexidip, but according to their customer service it would not be durable. Any suggestions?

Honestly, I don't think theres a wrong way to refinished them as if anything you do doesn't last you just do it again, Its not like rebuilding the engine. The flexidip would be fine I think, that one can would give you many years of touchup if necessary. If you really wanted to give it a similar pitted/textured finish and don't mind spending a few extra dollars then spray first with an undercoating to give it the texture then spray with paint for color. You could even use your own color! Ok, Git'R Done!

Thanks Gatoraied! I think at this point I'll just give em a shot of Rustoleum and see how that looks / holds up. If all else fails, that can stand as a base coat for the next attempt ...
