2015 Cherokee TrailHawk used purchase
Hello all!
I purchased a 2015 Cherokee TrailHawk (6cyl., cold weather group, trailer tow package, technology package) from a reputable used car dealer with 55,000 miles on it last April 2023. A VIN check showed no open recalls, it was never a rental, had one owner. 2 days after purchase shifts to Fwd Low/Neutral failed to complete. Dealer (under warranty) replaced PTU AND Transmission, sent Jeep to local jeep dealership to fill new transmission fluids and install software. All that finished last August…however Shifts still cancelled. An argument with the dealer followed during the next week. Then, many control modules gave error codes and my Jeep went to “safe mode” resulting with my used car Dealer towing it back to their service center, then onward to the local Jeep Dealership. Jeep spent a week correcting control modules and flashing the new PTU AND new Transmission. Today I am told the NEW transmission needs replacing. This will be transmission #3 for a jeep with 55,000 miles on it.
Anyone else have a new transmission fail before the first 500 miles? This replacement will be under a manufacturer warranty most likely, but why would a new transmission fail so soon?
This is 2023, improvements to these transmissions have been made haven’t they?

Getting numerous error messages from various control modules is usually the battery or battery cables, and not actual multiple system failures. Failing that, I'd be looking for wiring harness damage instead of multiple failed transmissions in a row.

I haven't had to replace my transmission for the '15 4 cyl or the '16 v6.
do you live in an area where it snows or rust on cars in common? if so then you will need to check the wiring as their might be some rusted grounds or wires with corrosion.

Update
I have come to find out my “reputable used car dealer” performing my dealer warranty repairs told a fat one to me when stating all replacement parts were directly ordered from the manufacturer and NEW OEM.
The truth is the “new” transmission recently replaced is used with similar mileage and obtained from a yard. The Manager when pressed (and I press hard) admitted he didn’t know if the used transmission he shoved into my TrailHawk was from another TrailHawk! No disclosure was provided about used replacement parts installed as the shop is required to provide under Colorado State Statutes. The dealership is in violation.
I am about to demand the next transmission be Remanufactured to meet or exceed OEM SPECIFICATIONS. But I want to be sure that will benefit me and also, that I can still obtain a Mopar warranty.
