Change Silver Trim to Black - 2019
Hello everyone,
I just joined and wasn't able to post in the technical discussion so I am attempting my question here. I just purchased a 2019 Cherokee Latitude and am wanting to change the silver trim to black all around the vehicle (window trim, grill trim, etc). Is there a best way to perform this modification? I have attached a photo of what the Jeep currently looks like with the silver trim, if it's silver I want it black. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...c5901ec4fd.png |
Welcome! :)
Wrong forum! :D You want the newer Cherokee section, here. This section is for the classic XJ, made up until 2001. Just because it's a Cherokee, doesn't mean it's a Cherokee! :D |
Haha, thanks Blue!

I moved the thread. Welcome.

The window trim may be hard to do, but the grille inserts come out individually, and you could paint them gloss black. If you want to do the wheels as well, I'd suggest getting them professionally powder-coated, or even easier, finding the black 18" wheels that come on the Altitude Edition/High Altitude Edition (which are the two all "blacked-out" Cherokee trim levels). You'd need new tires on the second one (as you most likely currently have 17" wheels, and the black wheels are 18". That may be a cheaper option though, if you must swap the wheels for black ones. For the "L"-shaped pieces surrounding the lower fog lamps, they most likely come off, too, and you could also paint them as well. Finally, not sure if you want to do all of the emblems, but you can most likely order black emblems for the 'Jeep' emblems in the front and rear, and the '4X4' emblem in the rear (if your Cherokee happens to be a 4X4), and remove the 'CHEROKEE' emblems on the front doors and 'Latitude' emblem on the tailgate with a heat gun for a cleaner look. Hope this helps. :)

Swap out the window trim for that from an Altitude edition. You’ll need a trim removal tool and soft hammer so you won’t cause damage.

Thank you both for the reply and ideas!
I've been trying to find the part numbers for the Trailhawk trim, which should be black. |
