I had some initial weirdness for the first couple days, but then things started to come back to normal. I do recall I had some issues with the touch screen not quite responding to some items, but turning the vehicle off at my destination and starting it up again when I was leaving tended to eliminate the problems.

I hope that's true in your case, but I have a feeling you've already tried that.

Thanks for the reply Watchful. You're correct, I've done a number of things to try and remedy the issue. Obviously, as you mentioned, I've turned the car off and on; I even found a way to "reset" the uConnect system. So far nothing has helped. I'm hoping I'll have the same luck as you and it'll just come back to normal.
The thing that throws me off is how none of the issues happen when I'm listening to podcasts on my iphone. The issues only happen when listening to music.
Although (and I didn't mention this is my original post) there is an issue where when I choose a podcasts on uconnect it plays a completely different podcast. In other words, the titles on uconnect do not match what ends up playing. I didn't bring this up in my original post because this has been an ongoing issue since before the update. But, what the heck, I'll just keep throwing stuff out there in hopes someone else has had any of these issues. :-)
Thanks again for the reply.

Default Update on iPhone issues

Update on my issue: After updating my iPhone to iOS11this issues appear to resolved themselves. I'm a happy camper again, but it seems silly that this was an issue to begin with.

Smile uconnect update

I got tired of waiting for the ota update so I went onto the uconnect site typed in a vin for a vehicle in Canada that has the same radio and downloaded the update. On my way home I installed the update from the usb stick and everything works fine, I did not lose any presets etc .All in all took about 25 minutes from start to finish.

Thanks for the Uconnect info. everyone! I just registered for this forum today to see what others are experiencing with the new over-the-air Uconnect updates. I tried to install a new map update having done (what I thought was the latest) Uconnect system update about a month ago via USB (Siri update). FCA's map registration/activation system stated I did not have the latest system update and wouldn't provide an activation code until I got it. Calls to FCA and Uconnect were not that helpful except to say "I'll receive this update at some point." And this is how I leaned Uconnect has dropped the USB update program.

One question - does anyone know if you must have a subscription to Uconnect Access in order to receive over-the-aie updates? Uconnect couldn't answer that question. I just use the phone pairing and don't pay for an Access subscription. I suspect a subscription isn't required as a lot of folks just use the phone pairing like me.

Again - thanks for the info. and happy to find forum users who can help!

I don't think map updates are free....why do you think you can install a map update with the new OTA Uconnect?

Which, I still have not received a download! Supposed to be 2014-current....not true. My 2014 is w/o update.... :-(

Correct - map updates are $150. BUT, you can't update the navigation maps without first updating to the latest Uconnect system software. And the latest downloadable version posted on Uconnect is V 16.13.13 which I installed about 2 months ago. The over-the-air update method isn't mentioned anywhere on FAC's map update website - nor on Uconnect's system software update pages, as of today. This is my 4th Jeep Grand Cherokee (Overland/Limited since 1993), so I am very familiar with Uconnect, Jeep, and map updates. The over-the-air Uconnect system update program is a mystery to many Jeep owners - It "all of a sudden appears on my screen."

I'd suggest NOT buying any map updates until FCA and Uconnect explain this system update process and how it will work in the future. Hopefully, I'll receive a Unconnect update over-the-air soon. But this is a very POOR way to do business.

I don't have a subscription and I received mine over the air. So, I will suggest "no," unless I was a lucky one.

I have to agree: the way FCA's software developer has handled this was terrible. I am hopeful that FCA is noticing this backlash and will get on top and in front of the next one, rather than just trust their third party developer has its act together.

For me, it was an unwelcome surprise.

Hi MDPatriot,

Your vehicle just needs to be equipped with Uconnect Access connected services, you do not need an active subscription to receive the update. As other members have stated the Over the Air update is currently being rolled out across the U.S., unfortunately we do not have a schedule/ETA for when it will reach certain areas.

Andrea - I did find this updated TSB. See attached.

I have a 2014 KL. No update. You've prob seen me complaining in this forum...l

The 2014 KL's are still listed.

It seems like patience is the key, so the OTA update to my 2014 KL WILL happen. Just don't know when.

Am I correct in my thinking?

Thanks - Chris

Hi Chris,

We are in the process of rolling the Over the Air update out to all qualifying vehicles, unfortunately we don't have an ETA or schedule for when it will reach certain areas. If you would like to send us a PM with your VIN I'd be happy to confirm if your vehicle will be receiving the update.

In talking with uConnect I found out you did not have to have UConnect access, so I canceled mine (does not offer anything that appealed to me)

Default Uconnect Update and Nav/Maps Update

Received the over-air Uconnect update in my 2014 Jeep GC two days ago, and it installed without a problem. I then proceeded to install the navigation/mqps update purchased from FCA. The documentation says the total install would take about 67 minutes. It's delivered on a USB thumb drive. All went fine for the first 40 minutes or so. My Jeep had the ignition in "run" mode per instructions, but no engine started. All of a sudden the ignition switched to the "off" position. Instructions say to NOT turn off ignition during the install. I pulled the USB out, started the engine, plugged the USB back in, and it resumed doing the install fortunately. I left the engine running to ensure another mysterious switch to "off" didn't occur again. The install went fairly slowly, but steadily after that point thank goodness. Total time was close to 2 hours. At the end, I was able to use the navigation system (did a few test destinations) and all other RA4 components. The nav system description (in System Setting) does show a newer version now. I don't understand the sudden switch to "off," unless there is a time-out mechanism built into the computer.

Anyone doing a nav map update might want to have the engine running for the entire install. You'll also need to do a couple of trips between your vehicle and a computer - first to get a "Request Code" that's displayed when you first install the USB drive, then to contact FCA's navigation update website (enter that request code) and have FCA provide an "Activation Code." Once you have the activation code, go back to your vehicle and prepare to do the install and plug in the thumb drive again. It will start by showing you the current system information and the new data (on the USB) and to verify (Yes/No) that you want to do the update. You'll then get a screen that looks like your navigation address input screen but you enter the "Activation Code" here as received from FCA, dashes and all. Press "Go" and the install should begin. There are 3 modules and you'll see a progress bar for each plus an over all update progress bar. A small blue led should also be blinking on the thumb drive as it reads the data.
