Android Auto - 2015 KL w/8.4A screen

I cannot get Android Auto to work in my 2015 KL Latitude with the 8.4A screen set. Do I need a UConnect subscription? Or perhaps the '15' is not capable of using A-A. I get a message that the phone does not work to send apps to the car. Samsung S8+ with the latest and greatest android op sys.

Any thoughts would be helpful since I cannot seem to outgrow the shame of not springing for an extra $500 to add nav when I bought the car.

Android auto is only supported on the 2019+ Cherokees, it was never featured or advertised to work on 2014-2018 models

There *IS* a way to add Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it involves three steps:

1.) Replace the factory RA3/RA4 touchscreen with the 2014-2019 Cherokee upgrade kit from Infotainment.com (available here: https://www.infotainment.com/collect...y-android-auto )
2.) Replace the factory USB hub/ports with the new Apple CarPlay/Android Auto capable USB hub/ports included in the upgrade kit.
3.) Visit your Jeep dealer to have the Proxi Alignment done and fully program the new touchscreen to your vehicle. This MUST be done for ANY vehicle utilizing a Fiat computer (the Cherokee included).

This will add Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to your Jeep. You will, however, lose the U Connect ACCESS abilities that were included with the factory radio (the 9-1-1 and ASSIST buttons on the rearview mirror and the unlock/lock/remote start abilities from the iOS/Android U Connect ACCESS app). However, the 3G CDMA cellular technology (provided by Sprint) that this system uses will be shut down by the end of this year (2019), so it would become useless anyway whether you replace the touchscreen or not. There is NO way to add the new U Connect Guardian 4G LTE technology as of yet. You will, however, retain SiriusXM Satellite Radio and Travel-Link abilities as long as you call SiriusXM and have them transfer over the subscription from your old touchscreen to your new one. You'll also retain all factory-equipped features (heated seats/steering wheel/mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, backup camera, etc.) because Infotainment.com will pre-program the new touchscreen to your VIN. You'll also get the Proxi Alignment done at the Jeep dealer, so that'll also program those features to your new touchscreen as well. Finally, you WILL gain A/M-F/M HD Radio if you don't have the 8.4AN (RA4) system, which adds extra and higher-quality A/M and F/M radio stations. You can ALSO add GPS navigation and SiriusXM Travel Link by ordering that option, if you don't currently have the 8.4AN (RA4) system. :)

Hope this helps. -Vince
