Default Ambient Lighting

Hello, I recently purchased a 2014 Trailhawk. I have used the ambient lighting switch before and watched the lights dim, light up, and turn off when switched to off. However, today when I started the car the ambient lighting just turns on and off with the headlight switch. The dimmer will not dim it or turn if off. Has anyone else had this happen? Any suggestions? I usually drive at night with them off because they bother me, but now I can't turn it off.

Thanks!

Hi darkmanbt,

Are you still within the basic factory warranty, or did you purchase an extended warranty on your Cherokee? If you're interested in working with your Jeep dealership to determine what may be happening, please let us know. We're happy to reach out and assist while your vehicle is in service!

I am still within factory warranty and I will take it in if necessary, i was just trying to figure out if this is common, or maybe i accidentally changed a setting or something that i'm not aware of.

It sounds like you were using everything the same/correctly from your original description, but here is the portion of the User Guide pertaining to the Ambient Light Dimmer, just in case:

"Ambient Light Dimmer
• Rotate the left dimmer control upward or downward to increase or decrease the
brightness of the ambient light located in the overhead console, door handle
lights, under I/P lights, door map pocket lights, and cubby bin lights.
• Rotate the left dimmer control to the extreme bottom position to turn off the ambient lights."

Yes, that is how it was working. Now the dimmer doesn't do anything, and the ambient lights turn on when I turn the headlights on, and off when I turn the headlights off. There is no longer independent control with the dimmer switch.

I'm a bit stumped then. Unfortunately I would have to direct you back to the dealership on this one. We can always help with that if needed.
