Default 2017 Cherokee Latitude Clicking when shifting out/in park

Hello - we just bought a 2017 cherokee latitude a week and a half ago. 5 days after buying it, it starting making a "click click" sound when shifting in and out of park. Took it to the dealership as it only had 99 miles on it, should not be making weird noises. They replaced the shift interlock module, but it is still making the exact same noise. Called dealership the next day, and they told me that is the sound of the key locking in the ignition. Does anyone else have this noise? I can understand the key locking into the ignition but this seems pretty loud. Especially when it wasn't making this noise when we bought it. I can hear it over the radio.... I have a video of it, but can't figure out how to upload. Thoughts?

Hi kensanne,

You're welcome to send us a private message with your VIN to have this further researched. Since you posted in the XJ section of the forum (model years 84-01), if you were looking for other forum member input instead, you may want to see if your thread can be moved.

This section is for the older Cherokees, built up until 2001. You want the new section.
