2016 Cherokee Transmission Issue
Something rather bizarre happened earlier that left me scratching my head. While driving down the highway, I received the dreaded check engine light plus a "service transmission" message on the dash. There was no loss of power initially. I decided to shoot over to the dealership since it was fairly close. Once I hit the exit ramp, the power loss happened for a couple of minutes, then it decided to start driving properly again (the "service transmission" message disappeared, however, the check engine remained on).
The dealership checked the code, and said it could be a number of things (likely a TCM issue). They won't know anything else until tomorrow. Vehicle only has 14,000 miles on it, so this was rather strange. Anyone else had similar experiences? |

Hi tony732,
We are sorry to hear that you are having this experience. If you need additional assistance while your Jeep is in service, please send us a PM with your VIN, mileage, and dealer. Darlene Jeep Social Care Specialist Dealership called and they're in the process of consulting with FCA engineering to determine what the issue is. Initial computer/TCM checks were fine, but it's still stuck in limp mode for some reason. I'll PM if I encounter any problems with the service, but for now it sounds like the shop has a handle on it. |
2016 transmission problems
My 2016 Jeep Cherokee is having the exact same problems at 19,000 miles. The first time, the service folks said it just needed a software update. Less than a couple weeks later and with less than 400 miles since the previous service, it did it again. Again, they just said they had another software update for it.
Did you get your problem resolved? Please advise. Thanks! |
