Default Setting for driving on ice?.

I posted this on the chat thread & it was suggested I repost on this thread.
Have ordered 2015 Cherokee Limited - loaded. Since this is my first Jeep I am unfamiliar with the "drive settings"....auto, snow, etc. I live in the NE and occasionally get caught in a freezing rain/ice situation. Have been running Michelin Xice tires on my current vehicle but aside from the obvious I was curious as to whether any one setting veteran Jeep owners might consider preferable in a similar situation.

Thanks,
Bob M.

id say run auto until it cant negotiate the snow/ice properly... then switch down to snow , when that does not work.. low range and lock em in if ya have lockers.. Also.. in extreme conditions turn off the traction control while in auto or high.,, ive seen the TCS kick in at the wrong times and basically stop all forward progression. by default, tcs is off in 4 low..
and a good set of chains for your tires, just to be safe and not sorry in EXTREME ice..

Fancy Jeeps haha. Like said above I'd lose traction control as thats gonna end up stopping forward progress. Not familiar with the whole settings thing, but when Ice gets bad here(super rare) I throw it in 4 hi and go. that being said, I drive on Duratracs which kinda suck on ice.

I would use the snow setting.

With my XJ I would always put it in high if I knew there was going to be ice. But what most people don't remember is that the KL is front wheel drive. You will have better control than with rear wheel drive vehicles. I would keep it it auto and just have some common sense. If you get to an area that has a lot of ice and snow put it in snow mode and go slowly, but other than that the computer should be able to transfer power to the wheels with traction on its own.
