Default 2014 Cherokee 3.2 L dies due to faulty roll over valve?

We have a 2014 Cherokee with 62,000 miles on it. It has idled rough and died in the past. This week it stalled while accelerating and died in traffic. Was able to get it restarted and limp to the dealer. We've been reading about issues and wonder if filling up the tank contributes to this problem because my wife had just filled the tank. The dealer mechanic said that the roll over valve is allowing fuel through valve and filled canister and vapor line to purge solenoid causing vehicle to die. I asked to talk with the mechanic because I suspected this to be a known defect. He said that they've talked with FCA engineering about it but it hasn't risen to the level of having a TSB put out. They were cagey about whether a full tank made the vehicle die in this case.

I'm a little upset because they're sticking us with a bill for $1,600 for something that should last longer. They say it needs a fuel pump, vapor cansiter and vapor lines cleaned out. It's not covered they say because it's not the power train. It may as well be because the thing dies and you're lucky to get into limp mode. Any other Cherokee KL owners out there experience this problem?

Agreed about the defect. I have not experienced the same problem, however I have had problems in regards to filling my tank (2014 KL with 3.2). Being from nj, you cant pump gas yourself, attendants do it for you. Sometimes when the pump clicks off, they round it up to the next dollar, putting in a bit more gas. One time he even filled it to where it just spilled out the filler neck. My old jeep could take a little extra gas no problem. With the new jeep, not so much. What usually happens is that the next time I go to put gas in the tank, it will only fill a little at a time (like 25 cents worth) before it kicks off automatically. If i run the truck on the highway on a long trip, it seems to clear the problem. Cold weather may also exacerbate the problem. My theory is that gas backs up into the vapor lines and maybe even the vapor canister, causing said problems.

Thanks the more I think about it, this issue with the roll over valve on the fuel pump sticking open seems to be a likely culprit for engine dieing especially when it dies after a fill up. In all the other vehicles I've ever owned, I've never before had to replace one much less research it. Our 2014 Cherokee has 63,000 miles and is garage kept. I wonder how many KL owners have had to replace a fuel pump?
