Default Recent Purchase-1996 Jeep Cherokee

I recently relocated to the mountains of western North Carolina. I needed a vehicle and was hoping to spend no more than $3,000. I found a 1996 two-door Jeep Cherokee Sport with a manual 5 speed transmission; all stock. The previous owner had recently installed some new parts--gas tank, u-joints, radiator, shocks to name the big items. Brand new tires too. Body is pretty straight, with some minor dings. Paint is pretty faded. He was asking 3,900. I got it for 3,700. It has 151,000 miles on it. I owned a 2000 Cherokee once, and my son owned one as well, so I'm pretty familiar with them. I love the look of them, their utility, and the long-lasting engine.

I do a lot of my own work, so the first thing I bought after the Jeep was a shop manual. I hope to gain some insights and occasional help from knowledgeable members of this forum in the years to come.

Thanks!

First of all... welcome "back" to the Jeep family... and welcome to the forum. Wrenching on it yourself... you'll fit right in here. Lots of good info. Just poke around and ask questions.
