Newb from north east part of US
Hello all 
I ended up on this forum after my XJ quit on me this past Sunday. I rounded a bend and she died...no warning, no running bad, nothing... crank, crank, crank...nothing
I suppressed the whole "crank till the battery dies or the starter gives out" impulse, I knew she was really sick and not faking it this time. I just had her towed to a local (trusted) shop to be repaired.
It ended up being a crank position sensor. Wish I discovered this forum sooner I would have tackled it myself. Live and learn I guess

Actually I'm south west Ohio. I was talking about north east part of the nation sorry for the confusion
