Newb from IL checking in . . and a few ?'s
First of all, Hi all
I've been lurking here for a little bit so I figured I'd check in. I just purchased my first Jeep last weekend I had a 4runner a couple years ago that I loved beat and abused . . .then sold. Figured I'd try a Jeep this time. The XJ I purchased is a 2000 Classic (yes I know about the casting) not exactly sure why it's not advised to lift this particular year very high yet . . . I got her for $2000 she's got a couple problems and 130k on the clock but the body is clean as I've ever seen . .
Anywho on to a couple Questions:
1.)After the engine warms up (say bout 5mins) the oil pressure drops to 0. still runs fine tho. After searching on here it seems like it's a bad sending unit. I'm gonna go pick up an oil pressure tester later today just to make sure I'm not gonna do any harm driving it . . . But does that sound right?
2.)Every now and then the battery gauge pegs on the high side . . . seems to me probably a bad alternator . .
Thanks in advance for any help/and sugjestions/tips are welcome. Seems like a bunch of helpful folks here and I hope to learn a lot and maybe help a little after I learn . . . lol . .
AND . . THE RIDE . .

Fraz... don't have an answer for you two particular questions.. but to answer the lift question. The 2000 and 2001 XJs have a low pinion front Dana 30 axle. The low pinion causes more binding/vibration issues than the previous XJs with the high pinion Dana 30s when lifting.
My normal oil pressure is between 40psi (idle) and 60 psi (on the gas) when warm.

Thanks for the replies guys
Outstanding, I had just gotten home from picking up the gauge when I checked it so yeah it was warm . . so that works . . new sending unit here I come
Yeah, I figured I was on the right track but just wanted to make sure . . so this low pinion axle is the only fix a axle swap?
Also what is the max lift to safely go with the current axle? ?
Thanks for the Help

An axle swap is pretty easy, bolt in using a pre 2000 axle. What you will want is the 1996-1999 XJ front axle this has the larger axle u-joints than the pre 96 models.
