Jeep Cherokee Forum - New XJ owner from Southeast Louisiana

Hi everyone, I've been lurking these boards since I got my Jeep ( '94 XJ) about 21/2 months ago. I never posted because the jeep was a lawn ornament until about a week ago. To make a long story quick, My Fiance's brother owned this jeep and overheated it SEVERELY twice. The first time the 4.0 survived, the 2nd time, it still ran but the compression test showed 32lbs on 1, 15 on 2, 23 on 3, and so on... Well, I needed to get her running, so me and a friend of mine went to a "Pull-a-Part" yard in New Orleans, found the only Jeep with reasonable miles there that looked like it was in a wreck (A '93 XJ with 140.000), and yanked the engine. Lo and behold it was a Jasper reman! looked almost new. I got the Engine and ALL of the accessories for $194 with a 30 day warranty! Well the guy running the forklift dropped it 3 times!! broke Alternator bracket, fan, smashed the oil pan, busted the dist. cap, Broke the harmonic balancer, i was pissed! And to top it all off they actually overcharged me $600! the girl pushed the wrong button when she swiped my debit card. But the manager did refund my money. (I know I said I was gonna keep this short.. oh well) Well we got the new engine put in, everything running pretty good, a stray issue here and there, etc... The first day i drove it to work I get into a wreck. Hit some lady that stopped short, it was raining, the jeep skidded, and now my front bumper is a bit bent up. then yesterday the alternator crapped out on me, so i just finished putting the one from the JY engine on. works great. hopefully my luck is gonna change with this thing sooner or later.. So anyways, that's my jeep story so far!
