New XJ Owner
Hi from Idaho folks,
I just picked up a salvage '97 XJ to put together for my daughter for transportation to and from college. It's all stock and had been mostly completed by the PO.
4.0 Automatic - 207K miles
I put cap, rotor, wires, air filter, valve cover gasket, snow tires, and stereo and speakers when I picked it up. Front and rear differentials needed serviced and the front brakes were shot but that just illustrates how inexpensive parts are!! Also found a nice replacement hood at the local wrecking yard that matched nicely.
I did the mandatory headlight upgrade thanks to all the suggestions here and videos on Youtube. Huge improvement and a nice easy install!! Thanks for all the great advice!
It's throwing a P0700 and P0705 code but from research I'm hoping that's just a NSS problem. Interestingly those codes are preventing the XJ from passing emissions...Now I know where to start when she brings it back for Christmas break!
