Hello everyone!

I have to XJ projects l, a 98 and a 92. The 92
is the “new” one. The hose was dangling down and is attached to what I guess is some kind of breather on the upper forward part of transfer case. Anyone know where the other end is supposed to go.. ? Is it just meant to vent or exit under hood somewhere?
also, there is some gnarly vapor emanating from my air vents in cab... it’s smells awful and probably toxic. I know that’s vague but anyone have any idea what it is or how to just seal off vents..? I don’t care about heat or ac....
Also, there is a small leak dripping onto exhaust somewhere... could those fumes be what’s getting into my heat/ac vents..?

cheers all!

thanks

Billy

That breather hose generally goes up to behind the engine, and secured by one of the bolts on the bell housing. However it can go anyplace you like, to a snorkel if you have one etc

Might not be a bad time to relocate it. One guy was saying he was getting water in his tranny from the breather hose. I suggested he relocate it up higher. I relocated all mine. Not cause I wheel but and am worried about water but cause I Fluid Film every winter. The rear diff one in my '00 is inside the uni-body. I like to gunk up in there real good. But until I relocated the breather up to the front where the front breather is I used to stay away from that section. Gunking up the breather in there with Fluid Film so it could not breath seemed like a bad idea. LOL. I did the tranny and transfer case one for the same reason. I gunk up under the rest of the Jeep with Fluid Film and did not want to coat the check valves in Fluid Film and have them not do there job either.https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...0bc0b497c0.jpg
