Just bought a 1992 cherokee 2wd it has the 4.0 motor all stock from what i can tell and im not real sure if it will do what i need it to do. First is do both rear tires grab for traction or just one like some vehicles. Second will a 31 or 32 off road tire fit the rear without putting lift kit or cutting it up. basically just looking for a cheap way to have something realiable to drive around on my property and not get stuck have a few good hills to climb that get slick when it rains but im thinkin it will get the job done. Any feedback will be appreciated thx

Most of the time the axle is open but u can always check to see if it got a posi or a locker or whatever.

Welcome to CF, first question. No unless it has posy which I doubt being a 2wd. you can check by jacking up the rear axel and spinning one of the wheels. If they go opposite directions, no posy or not a functioning one. Sencond question, No you would probably want to get a least a budget boost kit off ebay to run 31s and youll need to adjust your steering stops or you tires will rub bad on the stock LCAs. If you want to wheel, I'd suggest selling it and looking for a 4wd. if its just to get around your property it should work fine, just avoid obstacles that can leave you stuck

I agree, I have 31's on my Jeep and I had to lift it AND cut the wheel wells back a little bit, but I can't imagine you would need anything other than stock to get around on some property. In fact if you need larger tires to get around chances are you would need 4wd anyway, so I'd go get something 4 wheel or it kinda defeats the purpose of 31 in tires

Yeah that extra weight that your causing the axel to move is gonna get you stuck. Just go het some wrangle avengers from walmart that match your factory size and maybe go plus 1 or 2
