New Jeep XJ Owner
Hi all!
Like some here, I've worked on Jeeps for years, but never had one of my own... even though I secretly have wanted an XJ of my own for a long time. Just something about that platform with the 4.0 that does it for me
This time the timing was right and just recently got myself an almost completely rust free '99 XJ with the much beloved I6. These things are so straight forward and easy to work on that it's not even funny compared to most other vehicles on the road. Plus parts being so readily available still for both OEM and aftermarket off-road applications at reasonable prices certainly helped my decision to pick one of these up for myself. And plan to have it a long, long time.
Only things I need to change on this one are a few worn steering components and I'm good to go. After building so many low and very fast cars.... I was really ready to trade the "go fast" for being able to "go anywhere" lifestyle

Thanks... and I grew up in the what most people would call the sticks... and love it there.
I deal with the concrete jungle because I have to for work... but the sticks is where it's at for me... so was it passed time to get back into another 4x4...and always wanted to try the XJ platform.
So went searching for one that was straight, decent miles, and as close to rust free as possible. And boom... a '99 XJ was located.
Has needed a few little maint. TLC type things, but nothing major... just typical things that wear on not just Jeeps, but any vehicle. doing tie-rod ends and track bar tomorrow. then I should be good to go for a while.
