Hello All
I've posted a few times now. Some with questions on XJ's that I was looking at. Well, the day finally came that I bought one! I should really say the day came where I found a great deal on one.
I paid $1900 for him. It's a 99 sport with 140,000.
I bought the vehicle about a month ago but was reluctant to post in this section because I wanted to learn as much about it as possible first. I feel like a got a GREAT deal on this for the price. Part of the reason for that is the PO was somewhat ignorant on the problems with it. When I looked it over, he told me the heater core was out and needed replaced, the hood wouldn't open properly, and that the brakes were gone. I think mostly the heater core thought of replacement scared him.
After a month of playing with it, turns out the heater core was NOT shot and only needed to be flushed. It gets HOT heat now. The hood only needed the latch lubricated and now it works like new. Finally, I had to replace the back brakes completely. Since I did all of those repairs myself, I am only out about $175 bucks for a vehicle that now runs like a champ.
The engine and tranny are running great, no clunks or slips when shifting (it's auto) 4WD works just the way it should. Tires are at 50%. No frame or floor pan rust.
Problem areas that need addressed: rust on the doors and small spot on rear drivers cargo window. This will be fixed come spring when I paint the thing! Someone backed into the vehicle so the front bumper has a ding. No frame damage but busted the headlight bezel on the drivers side. There are not even door dings anywhere on the other body panels which is nice come paint time.
I have some big plans come spring for this thing but it will not be an offroad beast. I bought it for work so I need to keep the MPG's up. No huge lifts or roof racks. Matte orange paint though! I'll create a build thread with that on there when the time comes.

Howdy from Indy. Bought my 93 12 years ago with 193K miles on it and drove it to 262 before it got retired by a mechanic that evidently did not understand that I brought it in with no brakes. Mine still runs like a top but I will be doing some work on the body and working on bringing back up to par this Summer before I start modding it.
