Options that come to mind.., youch, what a bummer! One: Part it out onto another nearly identical purchase. I think that it is great to have an identical parts vehicle handy. Two: Have some real shop do some body/frame work on it, i.e., getting everything pulled/pushed back together, then welded, i.e., even with some additional 'sister' pieces of metal welded as required, and even with some additional carriage bolted through fasteners, i.e., hemisphere end inside cargo area, with the nuts down. I imagine you are at a weird moment.., so your explaination of the damage could be posted a little bit more accurate for others on this site who are quite capable of giving you good advice. As for me.., it's just my two cents worth, based on what I think you are trying to explain. I recently installed a class III hitch with new 'connector bar strips', and If you ripped whatever class hitch you have enough to 'tear' 'rip' your XJ nearly in half.., sheesh...! Either way, you have to 'eat' the expense in #1, or #2 above, or get a bicycle, or a two hundred dollar second vehicle to get around in. With licensing, insurance, time, etc., that 2 bills will evolve into hundreds.., maybe better spent on the XJ.., if time, and the need for another vehicle is not a question to reach an answer. Remember to make sure that the geometry is correct all around before the welds/bolting begins. Good Luck.., what a bummer, 'eh? Oh well, it's just part of the adventure after all!

As stated before, you can have it repaired with another rear section from a donor Jeep or get another shell and put your drivetrain into it. Either do it correctly or go with the second option.
