...but not to Cherokees. My name is Dave and I reside 4 hours North of Moab in West Jordan, Utah. I have owned 5 XJs and 1 MJ. I currently own a '96 Cherokee.
I started my XJ addiction with a '95, mildly built, 4" Teraflex lift and 31's. I then purchased a '93 and proceeded to build it with a Dana 44 rear, 8" Rock Krawler LA lift, 35's, 4.56s, Detroit lockers. I sold it to purchase my wife a mini van (I know, I know). It wasn't long before I purchased my next rig - a 2000 sport. 6" Teraflex LA lift, ARBs f+r. Got bored, sold it and bought a bone stock 1988 Comanche. Added a 6" lift, 36" swampers, Dana 44s f+r, 4.56s, Lock rights, winch. Wife and kids got sick of being left at home when I went wheeling so I sold it and bought a '99 XJ. It was already built by John Paulsen in Castle Rock, Colorado (BigOffRoad.com) It already had everything done to it that can be done to a Cherokee (see the website).
I guess my ego wouldn't let me drive something I didn't build myself, so I sold it and started my current project. I do not intend to go extreme with this jeep. I spend most of my wheeling time with my wife and 3 kids, so we stick to the more mild and scenic stuff. It is a '96, bought from the original owner.
Current mods are:
Dana 44 rear from a '87 XJ
4.5" Rubicon Express short arm lift
Rocky Road Outfitters rock rails
Rusty's track bar relocation kit and adjustable trackbar,
Rusty's TC skid
Rusty's steering box brace
31x10.50R15 BFG Mud Terrain T/A km2
Pending mods are:
Aussie lockers f+r
I'm trying to retain the stock look so I have not cut a thing. I plan on taking some pictures and posting them soon so stay tuned.
