Just bought a 2000 Cherokee Sport a few days ago for $1400. The previous owner did not want to put any money into it to fix the things wrong with it as he got a ford focus for better gas mileage. It needs a muffler, windshiled (cracked) and the small window on the drivers side rear door. It also needed a new battery but I brought one with me when I bought it so that's all square. It has 126k original miles. I ran a carfax and it is clean as a wistle! I got it road legal today and took it for a short test drive after checking all fluids, lights etc. This thing runs like a son of a gun! Drives straight and smooth, brakes work great, 4wd works great. So far so good. I'll be working on the other issues the next couple of weeks to get it back to good condition. My wife had a 2001 GC, 4.7L V8 a few years ago and we loved that. I can already see that I'm going to fall in love with my Cherokee. It has a much more utilitarian feel to it. Thanks for all the great posts on here, I can see I will be using this forum alot!

Pictures soon to come
Yeah, I don't know what it is about the Cherokee, but I really like it. I have owned a number of 2wd and 4wd pickups from ford, dodge and mazda and I like driving the cherokee more. I don't know how I'll feel about it once I really start wrenching on it, but time will tell. The feeling reminds me of when I bought my Subaru Brat fresh out of high school. I could change out an head on that in 35 minutes and the entire engine in about 2 hours. I got very filmilar with that vehicle. Well thanks for the welcome and I'm sure you'll see more posts from me in the near future!

New muffler
I installed the new muffler last night. The only univeral fit mufflers the store had in stock was a thrush. Not my first choice, but it works. I ordered a new drivers side rear door stationary window yesterday, the original was smashed. Having a new windshield put in soon also. I drove it again last night after the new muffler and I just love driving the thing. Good times!
