From Kenne Bell Cobra to XJ (Hopefully)
Hey everyone.
I'm currently selling my 2003 Kenne Bell Cobra and looking into getting in a 1999-2001 XJ. I love Cobras but where I'm currently at (29 Palms, CA) there isn't much going on and not the best of roads to take an almost 600HP car on. I've always loved Wranglers and XJ's so I'm definitely looking forward to getting into one of these. Right now I'm searching for a nice modded/lifted XJ. I found a few around my area but would like to know if these are decent deals. Some of the top ones I've found are: http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/3984613111.html http://flagstaff.craigslist.org/cto/3995979860.html http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/3995613588.html http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv...987610818.html I don't know much about XJ's and mods but I'm currently reading into it all. Looks like a lot of work and specs, should be fun. Steven |

The second one is an awesome XJ for what's likely a fair price. Though it needs different gears... 4.10s with 35s...? That's usually a no no. So maybe you can use that as a bargaining point. You may also use the mileage as a bargaining point, once you learn it. The third one has no detail, so I'd avoid it. It is low mileage, though. We don't know what gears it has... With 31s, you want 3.73s or 4.10s, so if they're stock, use that as a bargaining point. The fourth one seems overpriced. Again, no mention of the gears... With 33s, you'd want 4.56s, probably... So if they're stock or not the right ratio, you could use that as a bargaining point. If I had the money, I'd go for the second one. I'd regear it, put Bushwhacker flares on it (not the flat ones) and drive it just like it is. Just my 2 cents. |

I'll take your advice and talk to the owners and see what they have to say and try to talk them down. These the flares you're talking about? http://www.quadratec.com/products/72506_800_07.htm Edit: Just got a text from the guy who owns the second one. 225K is the mileage on it right now. Higher than I'd like but I'm looking to sway the price. |

So guys, going to check this one out today and hopefully if it looks good I'm going to pick it up.
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv...987610818.html Gears are still stock, the tires are sitting at 50% tread. It has a small oil leak on the rear seal. Gonna throw him 4K cash probably. |

Sweet ride...!
You probably want to regear, though. What was he asking and what did you pay? |
I paid 5k for it. He wouldn't budge any lower than that and I wanted the jeep.
Oh well, I love it. The old lady overloaded the radio however and now the AC/Wipers/Radio/Cig Plug won't work, thinking ignition switch. Gonna throw a new one in tomorrow. |
Just replaced the ignition switch and everything works good as new.
