Default just got it yesterday :)

hey guys, just thought i would introduce myself. i bought a 1996 cherokee yesterday for 500 bucks. its well maintained but has 320,000 miles on it. its got 33" tires and a 4.5 inch lift. the only issues with it is the wheel bearings are going and the exhaust hanger is broken so it rattles. does anyone know how i could go about fixing this and how much it would cost?

btw this is not my daily driver AT ALL i just bought it because i figured it was a great deal and my friends all have jeeps and are really into off roading. even if the car kicks the bucket i figure i could atleast sell the tires and the lift to make my money back right? how much does that stuff go for? oh it also has an aftermarket deck and speakers

lol ok good. i drove away thinking i just got the best deal ever and i bring it home and my dad goes wild. hes like "someone couldnt pay me to take that hunk of crap off of their hands". i was like omg did i just get ripped off? lol i certainly didnt think so but now he wont let me register it under his insurance (im on his insurance) so i am hoping i can fix the wheel bearing and exhuast and show him everything is fine. my dad also knows NOT ONE thing about cars so driving a lifted jeep that rattles and has play in the steering wheel probably felt not safe to him at all...

anyone know the price of the parts on the car if i were to sell them? 33" wheels and a 4.5 inch lift...

I would say more than $500.. depending on the amount of tread left on the tires.

I think you could get $400 for the tires alone. They are about $184 new through 4 wheelparts. So if they are in pretty much brand new getting them for $100 should be a good deal.

The lift depends on the components that were used and now "new" it is. I wouldnt expect to get more than $300-$350 for good parts. If it is just a budget type lift with add a leafs then you will get less.

You might post these questions in the tech section so that it will get more responses and so that we are following the rules.

Sweet deal! Wheel bearings arent that expensive but you might wanna have someone else do it, they have to be pressed in I believe. I would think your dad would be more worried about the murdercycle then the hunk-of-jeep. Good luck

Cherokee front wheelbearings do not have to be pressed, they are unit bearings they unbolt and bolt back on... real easy. The bearings themself can cost $70-$130 each depending on where you get your parts.
