Default Iowa guy about to buy a 1996 Cherokee

Hello... Never owned a Jeep before but I am thinking of buying a 96 Grand Cherokee V8 with mud kings... I thought I would say hi and ask if there is any common problems that I should look out for. I will be reading some posts and searching but any heads up helps since I go to drive it tommarrow.. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to CF!

If the front tires scrub/squeel on tight low speed turns look for T-case problems w/the viscous coupling.
Listen for howling from the rear axle differential bearings that doesn't change on turns but does on acceleration/deceleration.
I love my '97 even with the expense of the repairs.

Well.. I am a Jeep owner now, traded my Explorer off. It is a bright red Laredo, still learning the different models.. I am pretty pumped about it! It has some issues but they are small tinker time stuff.. Needs a door hinge pin, buff out a yellow headlamp, the rear lift shocks are bad, the headlight switch makes the dash lights fliker bright to dim, and the drivers door dont seem to unlock from the outside but all small stuff.. It seems to have tons of power, clean body, decent interior, the leather is nice, cold, but nice, added new floor mats, and a new steeringwheel cover just to make it my own.. Lol, little I like to do to something new.. wel, new to me! I look forward to learning more from you all and I hope this is a good ride for me!
