Howdy, Folks! '97 4dr 5sp and '96 2dr Auto... :)
Hello Addicts!
I've been lurking around a bit and decided to finally drop in and say my proper hellos...
I bought my '97 Sport back around 2005 at an auction. I had been looking for a 4dr 5sp in the "newer" style for some time and apparently they are pretty rare?? Well, when I found this one in green....mint with 90k miles.... I had to have it. Soooo... off to the auction I went.
Lucky for me, someone tried to shiest it by pulling an injector harness, coolant temp sensor connector, etc. etc. so when it hit the block people walked off. Since i knew what the guy was up to as soon as I opened the hood, I ran him out of cash at $2300....
I now have over 150k on her and have replaced nothing. Oil and brakes is it. The rear diff is making some noise, so I'll probably have to replace that at some point (axle swap).
Anyway, yesterday afternoon I decided to buy another XJ 4x4. This one is a 1996 2dr auto. It's in great shape all around and has 125k miles on the clock. Best part is I paid $500 for her.
I'll end my long drawn-out intro by saying that this is a GREAT forum for all things Cherokee and I'm glad you all are here.
I look forward to chatting it up or helping out when I can. Time is kinda tight with work, wife, kid, being a mod on another forum, etc... but I should be able to find at least a little time to spare for the best SUV on the planet, right?
Take her easy.

Thanks for the welcome, guys...
Well, I went to pick up the '96 yesterday and the serpentine belt was broken and the alternator was locked up tight. I had seen the jeep before, which is why I committed to $500 on the phone. (worth more than $500 in parts). He had mentioned on the phone that it was gonna need a belt, but I figured his mechanic had just told him it was cracked and needed replaced.
Well, it now has a new alt and serp belt (couple hours in his yard...lol) and the thing runs mint! (better than my 97). It's super quiet and everything on it works!
He even offered to take the $150 in parts off the asking price!
So I'm pretty stoked. The interior looks new (it was steam cleaned/detailed, too...lol) and the thing runs solid. I'm gonna have to throw up some pics....
BTW, ol' blue... I'm gonna be headed down your direction to the dragon in may on my CBR. Nice 10hr ride...
