Yea buddy! I'm sure if the XJ didn't take me out my wife's curling iron would strangle me in my sleep. At least my hair would look good for the funeral!

Keep replacing parts, everything you need you can get at advanced auto and all parts are cheap, especially if you compare it to other vehicles.

Thanks to everyone's comments!

Have begun rebuilding everything from the ground up, as budget and time allows.
Attm. - suspension/drivetrain...
I'm sure I'll be back to this great forum, lots!

Glad you've decided to keep it man!

head on over to the builds section https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f46/ and keep us updated with your progress!

I've had mine for 5 years now and I've been lovin' every minute of it.. yes, even the moments when I wanna rip my hair out fixing stuff - 'cause I know once I figure it out, it just strengthens that bond between man and machine.

Thanks Basslicks, I understand what you mean. And to take it a step further, once you figure it out it strengthens one's self reliance.
I keep a ton of spare parts and tools with me out chasing and have on occasion repaired the Jeep along the side of the road "without" calling for a tow.
Thanks for the link and will keep posting.
Good looing ride you've got!

Yeah, keep that bad boy going as long as absolutely possible. I've put way more money into mine (and continue to) than needed, but I don't care. I want what I want, and I want to keep my XJ for as long as I can. There are a lot of XJ's out there, and some that I really like, but I LOVE my XJ because it's mine, and no one can change that.

My old XJ (2000 Sport) is still sitting in my garage. Blown motor, tranny lost all its fluids, rusted to ****, unibody kinked, and I'm still finding it difficult to get rid of.

P.S. please do start a build thread! Love to see what you do.

Default Jeep's recent tangle - still keepin her!

Update:

A couple weeks ago the Jeep & I got spanked by a severe storm with up to baseball size hail. Was really loud! The ins. company totaled it - whatever.......

She's a tough old girl & I'm gonna keep rebuilding her.
Just more proud battle scars - probably going to trick it out a bit.
Will be checking forums for parts leads.

Gonna be 62 next week - gotta live & have fun!

Appreciate again all the positive feedback!
Cheers!

What a pounding; looks like pissed-wife-with-baseball-bat damage! Good luck getting your Storm Chaser back to top performance/reliability.

I've had my 90XJ since new; can't see getting rid of it anytime soon.

I know that feeling, I'm still keeping mine the insurance totaled out. Gonna turn her into one hell of a trail rig.
