Hi from down under

Hi everyone, I have already posted here on the forum over the last couple of days. So it’s time to introduce myself.
I bought an XJ RHD last week and after some fixes I am planning to tour Australia with it.

I bought it cheap (AUD 1600) and because I wasn’t so sure about the safety I got it checked. Turned out it wasn’t so bad! These are the main things on the report:
• Rear shackle bushes
• Front trailing arm bushes perished
• Rear differential oil is dirty
• Passenger side engine mount needs to be replaced
• Engine oil leak around filter housing
• Air intake box mount broken
• Rear engine breather hose broken

And I would like to see how far I get with fixing it myself

I also got a rather low mileage. I am lucky if I make 6.6 km/l (15.5 mpg) on the highway. Where can I start looking for improvement?

to get better mileage I'd take the rack off the roof with the tire, makes it a lot more aerodynamic. That's where I would start but honestly I don't know how much better you'll get...

I can't remove the roof rack, because I'm going to travel around. There will be much more on it soon. Maybe I should think about a deflector or something
