Default Hi from across the pond...

Hi, nice forum! I am the very proud owner of a 2000 2.5 diesel (if you saw our petrol prices you would understand!) Cherokee Orvis. I have admired Jeeps for years and finally convinced the wife that ownership of a Jeep would make more sense than our previous Peugeot (French trash - but cheap!) to cart our dog about and for our trips to the Welsh mountains, where 4x4 is sometimes necessary.

Looking forward to having a look at the forums and maybe getting some help and advice along the way. Hope this post finds you all well.

Thanks Dave, nice of you to reply, and so promptly!!

I am pleased with my Jeep - all the Orvis niceties and in really good shape. There's a couple of little jobs I want to do - such as get a new front inner grill (one of the panels broken). I must confess that I don't intend going too hardcore with the off-roading (don't shoot me just yet), but just want to enjoy, what I consider to be a great classic American vehicle, on the roads of London and Wales in our precious days off work, and keep it looking good!

Looking forward to reading about the Jeeps belonging to you guys...

Ah, a fellow cruiser - they call us 'Chelsea Tractor' drivers over here! Nice to meet your acquaintance, Dave.

Does 'Chelsea Tractor' mean anything or just non-offroading Jeep owners?

ha ha... I should put that in my signature...

Dan here, and I'm another one that rarely leaves the public roads. So far anyway.

Cheers, guys. Sluggy, I'm in South London - hope the weather's as good up there at the moment as it is down here mate!

dlundblad - the 'Chelsea Tractor' quote makes reference to people from smart areas with nice roads (e.g. Chelsea in London) driving inappropriately large and expensive vehicles ('tractors' i.e. 4x4s) on our overcrowded roads. This pisses some of our 'green' contingent off and it's considered an insult (or a badge of honour if you happen to drive one)
